A great day

Yesterday a good friend who moved away from here a couple of years ago, called and said she had to sell a book she co-wrote with Helen Radke at the local Historical Museum and could they come by to say hello. She and her husband came and stayed for half an hour. It was great seeing them. I decided to go to the museum and if there were any moments when she was not busy with her public we could continue our reminiscing. As we were saying good bye again, she said have you read THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY book be sure you get it . it is wonderful reading. I stopped at the local book store, bought it and also the first of the twilight books. The first one I mentioned is a Dial Press Paperback. I came home, sat down to read and except for taking care of my animals and making my bed , I have done nothing but read.

The book is amusing, and historically educational. Written by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. If you have read it or if you do in the near future let me know how you feel about this book.

I just recently read "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society" and I loved it so! I'm so glad you are enjoying it. The only bad part was finishing it as I wanted it to go on and on. I don't comment much but I love reading your stories. So glad you're telling them!

I've read it recently, too, and I also loved it. It was really enjoyable, historically interesting and not too taxing. Excellent book!
Let us know how you get on with the Twilight book......

Your "Plot" daughter needs to help you compile an outline for your book from your blog postings.
If you are comfortable writing in jumps then do so--for each post is a treasure to us all. You can go back and synchronize later :)

Thanks for the book recommendation!

I have the 4th Twilight book ready to go, but I can't crack it open yet, as my to do list is very long and if I start reading I won't be able to stop, and all else will fall to pieces!

I work in a bookstore, and I absolutely LOVED "Guernsey" (as we refer to it). Such a treat to read, I actually read it a few months ago and I'm already itching for a reread.

I LOVED the Guernsey book, and I LOVED the audiobook that I 'read.' What a treat it was. (You know, someone has optioned it for a movie.) I love that it is all about loving books, and that it proves its theme! It's one I'll read over and over, I know.

I almost didn't take Guernsey from the library because the title seemed sort of corny and silly. What a loss to me that would have been. Like the rest of you, I loved it.

I also just finished reading A Three Dog Life by Abigail Thomas which was very good. One more called Adventures with Ari, a puppy, a leash and a year outdoors by Kathryn Miles.

A book list, anyone?

I concur with most of the comments above- I recently read the Gurnsey book in a book club, and it was awesome. i totally want to go visit there now.

I'm soooooo curious to hear what you think of Twilight. I find the phenomenon interesting (and entertaining) on a variety of levels.
